02/19/08 Virginia's First Indoor Wakeboarding Rail Jam Event Comes to Roanoke Boat Show
Smith Mountain Lake, VA, February 19, 2008 – Wake N Skate Board Shop, in partnership with Bridgeside Marine, Mastercraft Boats, and StepUpProductions.com, will host a live Rail Jam contest during the Southwest Virginia Boat Show February 29th through March 2nd at the Roanoke Civic Center. The Rail Jam will feature professionals demonstrating wakeboarding and wakeskating maneuvers over 55,000 gallons of water in a 125’long, 25’ wide and 2.5’ deep wake pool. Boarders will perform stunts while being pulled over a slider rail supported by an underwater platform by a motor-driven towing wench. Hyperlite pro-team rider Rusty Malinowski, and CWB Pro Team Rider Corey Bradley will be in attendance along with other Pro Team riders from around the region. Local Liquid Force & Wake N Skate Pro Team Riders Brian Reeder & Nick Whitt will also be returning to the area to compete. Any World Wakeboard Association member are also welcome to participate. Micah Gaudio, owner of Wake N Skate, said “This is big time to have an event of this magnitude at the SWVA Boat Show, usually rail jams only happen in major cities but because of the popularity of wakeboarding in this area we are now a major player on the east coast”. The riding exhibitions will take place on Friday at 5 & 7pm; on Saturday at 1, 3, 5, and 7 pm; and on Sunday at 1 & 3:30 pm.
